Different cultures celebrate babies differently. Here are traditions from around the world.
Jewish: Brit Milah / Simchat Bat
Bris (circumcision) for boys on day 8. Simchat Bat or Zeved Habat for girls. Both include naming ceremonies.
Hindu: Godh Bharai
Celebration in the 7th month of pregnancy. Includes blessings, gifts, traditional food, and henna.
Chinese: Full Moon Celebration
Held when baby is one month old. Red eggs and ginger symbolize happiness and luck.
Mexican: Cuarentena
40-day postpartum rest period where new mother is cared for by female relatives.
Korean: Baek-il and Doljanchi
Baek-il celebrates baby's 100th day. Doljanchi is the first birthday, featuring a fortune-telling game.
